Mr Finn Pratt AO PSM, Secretary of the Department of the Environment and Energy, has advised the Prime Minister that he will be retiring on 11 October 2019.

We want to take this opportunity to thank Mr Pratt for his service and leadership, and congratulate him on his remarkable public service career spanning 36 years.

We are grateful for Mr Pratt's contribution to Australia's energy, environment and climate change policy since his appointment as Secretary in September 2017.

Mr Pratt has brought a considered and professional approach to a portfolio that can, understandably, generate considerable emotion.

His dedication to public service is something that we very much respect and thank him for the assistance he has given us.

We join the Prime Minister in wishing Mr Pratt and his family all the very best for the future.
