A world-first chemical filtration system which protects people from contaminated water, is among ten projects to share in $3.7 million in funding from the Morrison Government.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews said the Accelerating Commercialisation grants will fast track the development and commercialisation of innovative products with strong local and export market potential.

“The Morrison Government is committed to backing Australian businesses that boost our economy, contribute to our reputation as a global industrial leader, and create more jobs,” Minister Andrews said.

“Investing in businesses and technology is vital to ensuring Australia builds on its record of 27 years of uninterrupted economic growth.

“This funding will support these businesses through their product lifecycle, from product trials and development to market testing, with the aim of going global.”

The latest funding offers will assist:

Five Queensland businesses:

• Alares Systems to commercialise a technology platform which captures and interprets court records for credit providers, helping to better manage credit risk.
• AMS International Technologies to commercialise their energy management products to help consumers, electricity retailers and distributors better manage their use of electricity.
• Chromoxyion to commercialise a process which increases the number of female animals born on pig and dairy farms, improving animal welfare in the livestock industry.
• Direct Injection Systems to commercialise products which reduce stress and weight loss in livestock during transportation.
• Forwrd to commercialise a real-time messaging platform for healthcare professionals which enables health professionals to securely and directly collaborate.  

 Two New South Wales businesses:

• Ubaryon to commercialise its new metal separation technology which will result in significant safety, environmental and economic advantages.
• Vantari to develop virtual reality cadaver technology to assist training delivery for doctors and improve patient outcomes.

One Western Australian business:

• Environmental Water Solutions to commercialise a world-first chemical filtration system which protects people from contaminated water.

One Australian Capital Territory business:

• Flex-G to commercialise its specialised high performance coolant developed for the motorsport and electric vehicle market.

One Victorian business:

• Spark Breweries and Distilleries to commercialise a new compact brewing machine which will improve profitability for pubs, hotels and craft brewers.

Since the Coalition launched Accelerating Commercialisation grants in 2014, a total of 400 grants worth $196 million have been offered to Australian businesses resulting in technological advances that have had widespread benefits on everyday lives.

The competitive grants, which are matched by industry funding from the businesses, are part of the Government’s Entrepreneurs’ Programme, which is part of the broader economic plan to create 1.25 million jobs over the next five years.
