Reappointment of Dr Cathy Foley AO PSM

The Albanese government has reappointed Dr Cathy Foley AO PSM as Australia’s Chief Scientist. 

As Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Foley gives independent, evidence-based advice to the government and works across the science community, industry and government to lift Australia’s capability in technology, science and research. 

Dr Foley has spent the last three years giving advice to government in a range of areas such as quantum, STEM career pathways and semiconductors. 

She will now continue to support Australia’s potential in science and research, focusing on critical and emerging technologies.

Her reappointment will start 1 January 2024 and last until 31 December 2024.
