Appointment of new deputy chair strengthens ANSTO board
11 April 2018
Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) Board member, Ms Penelope Dobson, was officially announced today as the board’s new Deputy Chair.
Assistant Minister for Science, Jobs and Innovation Zed Seselja congratulated Ms Dobson on her appointment to the role.
“Ms Dobson has made significant contribution to the ANSTO Board since joining in April 2014,” Assistant Minister Seselja said.
"I am delighted that Ms Dobson has agreed to take on the Deputy Chair position. Her experience is highly relevant to Australia’s only research organisation devoted to nuclear science and technology, and particularly to ANSTO’s growing radiopharmaceuticals business.
“This appointment also provides the Board with continuity, as Ms Dobson has extensive corporate knowledge and experience that she can bring to the role.”
Ms Dobson has 35 years’ experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, and has held a number of executive positions in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States.
Ms Dobson is active on ANSTO board committees, including the Risk and Audit Committee, the Remuneration and Nominations Committee, and the Commercial Subcommittee.
“I would like to thank the outgoing Deputy Chair, Ms Erica Smyth, for her valuable contribution to the ANSTO Board since 2008,” Senator Seselja said.
“I look forward to further working with the board, as ANSTO continues to deliver world-class research and innovation in nuclear science and technology.”
Ms Dobson’s appointment will conclude on 23 April 2019.
