Twenty four more Australian companies will take their innovative ideas into the global marketplace under the Australian Government’s Entrepreneurs Programme.

A significant partnership between CSIRO and Chevron will investigate unexplored deepwater regions in the Great Australian Bight, in the first commercial partnership to operate the marine research vessel, the RV Investigator.

Australian Minister for Industry and Science Ian Macfarlane today congratulated CSIRO on its role in an international collaboration that has led to a world-first in surgery, using a 3D printed titanium sternum and rib implant that was designed and manufactured in Melbourne.

CSIRO has purchased 290 hectares of land at Boorowa in New South Wales for its agricultural research programme.

The Australian Government is continuing to work with the industry and science sectors to generate economic growth and create new jobs by building on the major reforms that have been implemented since the Coalition Government was elected two years ago.

Minister for Industry and Science Ian Macfarlane said there is a clear determination to keep the Australian steel industry strong and profitable in the Illawarra as part of the region’s broader economic future, following a meeting of key stakeholders in Wollongong today.

Australian industry will have new options to enhance their competitive edge through partnerships with our world-class university research resources, as the Australian Government continues to implement a suite of policies to build stronger connections between business and science, Minister for Industry and Science Ian Macfarlane said.
